Opuntia macrocalyx
Opuntia macrocalyx Cactus
As cute as they are, these Bunny ear cacti should not be stroked (unless you like little glochids in your skin). Also known as Bunny cacti, polka-dot cactus and angel’s wings cactus they look soft and loving, but don’t let the looks fool you. Each little dot has a tuft of bristly haired spines (glochids) that will invite themselves onto you when brushed.
How to care for your cactus
Water: Water the plant when the top one inch of soil is dry. Allow the water to drain out of the pot and remove any excess from the saucer. During autumn and winter, water lightly only every 3 to 4 weeks. Once the plant is mature, little watering is required.
Light: They enjoy bright sunlight.
Humidity: Regular humidity levels.
Temperature: They enjoy warmth, about 20 degrees C.
Toxic to cats & dogs? No but they aren’t going to like being near one!
